Decision Not To Allow The Export Of Sugar. Caretaker Commerce Minister Gujjar Ijaz says that the government has decided not to allow the export of sugar till the end of the season. Dr. Gohar Ejaz said in his statement on Wednesday (Twitter) that the government will not allow the export of sugar until the full production and consumption is estimated at the end of the season.

He wrote in his message that he chaired the meeting of the Sugar Advisory Board (SAB) in Islamabad, in which the challenges faced by the sugar industry were discussed among other issues. He said that it was an honor to preside over the meeting of the Sugar Advisory Board to discuss the strategic change in our policies related to sugar.

We have decided to come out of the cycle of sugar export and import after a shortage in the market. The caretaker federal minister said that the “obsolete style” has not only caused financial loss to Pakistan.
Rather, it also increased the price of sugar for the common man. We will not allow the export of sugar till then. Unless a full production and utilization review is conducted at the end of the season. Dr. Gohar Ejaz further said that by adopting the idea of Pakistan first, we are determined to ensure a stable and affordable supply of sugar for our citizens.
He said that he would preside over another meeting of the Sugar Advisory Board. So that the track and trace system related to the production and consumption of sugar is fully implemented across the country.

It may be noted that on Tuesday Gohar Ejaz received a briefing in the SAB meeting regarding the closure of the sugar industry regarding the additional stock of 9 lakh tonnes. However, the caretaker minister rejected the request insisting on ending the past policy of exporting and then importing sugar.
Currently, the price of sugar mentioned above may be lower or higher due to any reason.
